ST. LOUIS - CDM has been selected by the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD) to plan, design, and provide services during construction for multi-phase sewer system upgrades. The planned improvements will increase capacity and improve the sewer conveyance system and pump station by eliminating surcharges and sanitary sewer overflows to the service area during wet weather events.
CDM will perform hydraulic analyses and design services for the Creve Coeur pump station and a 19,000-foot force main, increasing capacity from 43 million gallons per day (mgd) to 129 mgd. The pump station and force main will undergo retrofit, or replacement, in order to accommodate increased flow to the Missouri River wastewater treatment plant. CDM will also provide planning and preliminary design services for the Creve Coeur Creek trunk sanitary sewer, upsizing 38,000 feet of the sewer from 12- to 48-inch to 42- to 78-inch diameter.
Upgrades to the MSD system will address compliance issues and improve service to more than 18,000 residential homes by reducing surcharging, including backups and overflowing manholes. Phased upgrades are in coordination with other related treatment and conveyance improvements. Pump station and force main construction will begin, and final trunk sewer design is due, in 2005.
