PLEASANTON, Calif., Feb. 10, 2003 -- Documentum, a provider of enterprise content management (ECM) and extended enterprise collaboration (EEC), announced that the Las Vegas Valley Water District (LVVWD) has standardized on the Documentum ECM platform.
The LVVWD had previously deployed Documentum in its Automated Mapping Facilities Management GIS (AM/FM GIS) Division and will now implement the Documentum platform across its other engineering, resources, operations and administration groups. The LVVWD provides water services to more than 800,000 residents of Southern Nevada.

Because of the rapid growth and development of the community that the District serves, maintaining an increasing number of records, drawings and maps was a challenge. Using the Documentum platform, employees in the AM/FM GIS Division have been able to minimize errors in the production and management of drawings and maps for use by other departments within the LVVWD.

After implementing Documentum in the engineering, operations and research groups, the LVVWD estimates that the system will manage more than one terabyte of content with more than 200,000 documents and drawings with multiple versions and renditions.

The AM/FM GIS group is leveraging the Documentum platform to build efficiencies in its extensive document-based work processing. CAD technicians use Documentum through seamlessly integrated AutoCAD and custom scanning applications, so they do not have to learn and operate multiple user interfaces, which enhances the District's operational efficiency.

In addition to streamlining the management and distribution of engineering documents and drawings with Documentum, LVVWD also plans to use Documentum to manage operations and management manuals, construction contracts, project files and administrative documents.
