PITTSBURGH, July 17, 2001 — The IT Group, Inc. announced today that the South Florida Water Management District, in support of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan, has awarded a $31 million project to IT Corporation. The two-year, watershed restoration project will begin in August 2001. Operations will include construction of more than 39 miles of levees and 21 miles of canals.
"This contract, combined with four other recent awards in the Everglades Program, is evidence that our nationwide water management initiative is gaining momentum," said Gary Gardner, President of Commercial Engineering and Construction Services for IT Corporation. "We expect continued growth in this dynamic market, particularly in Florida as we support South Florida and other water management districts."
