Feb. 13, 2001—The Water Infrastructure Network (WIN) released a report calling for the Congress to increase the nation's investment in drinking water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure.

Detroit Mayor Dennis W. Archer, President of the National League of Cities (NLC), presented the findings of the report, entitled "Water Infrastructure Now, Recommendations for Clean and Safe Water in the 21st Century" and outlined legislative recommendations.

Joining the Mayor were representatives of the major stakeholder groups, including the water and wastewater community, and Members of Congress.

The Water Infrastructure Network is a non-partisan coalition of local elected officials, drinking water and wastewater service providers, environmental groups, labor unions, and construction and engineering professionals.

WIN's goal is to advance legislation to bridge the $23 billion annual gap between water infrastructure needs and current funding.
