BROOMFIELD, Colorado and WARRINGTON, UK, Feb. 14, 2001 — Montgomery Watson Americas, Inc., a leader in engineering, construction, technology and infrastructure services, announced the appointment of Donald L. Smith as President, effective July 2001.
A 24-year veteran of Montgomery Watson and a member of the global Board of Directors of Montgomery Watson, Inc., Smith will assume overall responsibility for the company's operations in North and Latin America. With corporate headquarters in Colorado, Montgomery Watson Americas is the largest operating unit within the company's global enterprise, with 2,000 employees and revenues of $400 million.
Smith brings extensive management and engineering expertise gained in several of the industry's leading environmental projects. These include his roles with Montgomery Watson as Chief Operating Officer for Western U.S. municipal operations, Southwest Group Manager and Principal In Charge of the City of San Diego Wastewater Program, and Manager of the 400-million gallon per day Hyperion Wastewater Treatment Plant in Los Angeles.
Most recently, Smith has served as Managing Director for Montgomery Watson Europe's high-profile contract with United Utilities (formerly North West Water Ltd.) in Warrington, England. With a capital cost of U.S. $3.3 billion for water and wastewater facilities serving an area spanning 14,000 square kilometers, this 5-year engineering services programme is the largest and among the most complex in Montgomery Watson's history.
Assuming the role of Managing Director of Montgomery Watson's United Utilities contract in June of 2001 will be Philip L. Hall, currently General Manager - Construction & Procurement for Montgomery Watson's United Utilities programme.
Prior to his current role, Hall served as President of Montgomery Watson Constructors, Inc., a wholly-owned construction subsidiary of Montgomery Watson Americas. In this role Hall directed all construction operations for the $75 million operating unit, while concurrently serving as the Montgomery Watson Program Manager for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Total Environmental Remediation Contract, valued at $300 million.
