WASHINGTON, DC, June 9, 2011 -- U.S. Representative Geoff Davis (KY-4) was recognized by the "Water Is Your Business" program for his efforts in working to provide states and municipalities with the ability to invest in water and wastewater infrastructure through public-private partnerships.
"Water Is Your Business" is an awareness program designed to educate stakeholders on the economic value of water to communities, and the economic and human capital investments needed in water infrastructure now. The program recognizes local leaders, like Rep. Davis, for their decisions to invest or provide support for investment in out-of-sight, out-of-mind water infrastructure.
Rep. Davis, along with U.S. Senators Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Mike Crapo (R-ID) and U.S. Representative Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ), has introduced H.R. 1802, the Sustainable Water Infrastructure Act of 2011, a bill that removes state volume caps on exempt facility bonds for water projects.
"Water and wastewater infrastructure is essential to job growth," said Davis. "H.R. 1802 will also provide additional resources to communities in Kentucky's Fourth District and around the country that are struggling to comply with federal mandates and are forced to raise rates on their customers."
The bill is currently awaiting a floor vote in the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives.
