WILMINGTON, DE, March 12, 2008 -- Dian C. Taylor, president and CEO of Artesian Resources Corporation, is serving a one-year term as president of the National Association of Water Companies (NAWC), an organization that represents all aspects of the private water service industry.
Founded in 1895 by 16 small water companies in Pennsylvania, NAWC today has members in every region of the United States. Members range in size from large companies owning and operating many hundreds of utilities in multiple states to individual utilities with only a few hundred customers. Private water utilities produce about 1.7 trillion gallons of water per year to provide water service to about 33.5 million Americans.
"I'm honored to hold this position of leadership for our industry," said Taylor. "Artesian has benefited from NAWC's programs and resources for many years, and I am pleased to help guide the organization in addressing the issues that are facing private water companies today."
NAWC provides government relations and state regulatory services to members, and addresses issues including health and environmental protection, security, and water infrastructure. The organization works to support policies that accurately reflect the value of water and ensure efficient and forward-thinking management of water resources.
Taylor is chair of the board, president and CEO of Artesian Resources Corp. and its subsidiaries. She is a member of the Boards of Directors for the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce and the Committee of 100, serves on the Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay Advisory Council, and is a trustee of Christiana Care Health System and The Grand Opera House. Taylor will serve on the NAWC executive committee for three years.
