DENVER, CO, Oct. 1, 2008 -- Beginning today, local public television stations around the country will air 'Liquid Assets,' a documentary focusing on the deterioration of essential water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure in the United States. The film provides a unique opportunity for water and wastewater utilities to communicate the importance of their services and the need for reinvestment in infrastructure.
As an Outreach Sponsor for the project -- CH2M HILL is joined by other sponsors such as National Association of Clean Water Agencies, American Society of Civil Engineers, Water Environment Federation and American Water Works Association -- in support of raising public interest of water infrastructure in the U.S.
"We sponsored Liquid Assets because we think it's critical to broaden public awareness of the need to reinvest in our water and wastewater infrastructure, "says CH2M HILL Water Business Group President Bob Bailey. "The majority of our water and wastewater assets is underground, and typically out of sight means out of mind. We're working with a number of utilities to proactively define, secure funding for and implement major rehabilitation and renewal programs. By making the choice to reinvest in their infrastructure, these communities are avoiding crisis situations and making sure that their residents continue to enjoy high levels of service."
Around the country, utilities are implementing aggressive infrastructure renewal and rehabilitation programs to address the needs of aging systems. CH2M HILL is providing program management and/or construction management services for water and wastewater infrastructure rehabilitation programs in a number of U.S. communities, including Atlanta, Ga.; Orange County, Calif.; Chicago, Ill.; Seminole County and Fort Lauderdale, Fla; Louisville, Ky.; and many others.
Asset management is a foundational component of infrastructure renewal and rehabilitation programs, and CH2M HILL also is providing comprehensive asset management services to optimize capital plans for Las Vegas Valley Water District; Pinellas County and Palm Beach County, Fla.; Lethbridge, Alberta; Upper Occoquan Sewage Authority, Va.; Albany, Ore.; and others.
