LONG BEACH, CA, July 25, 2008 -- Earth Tech Inc. has been awarded a contract to provide engineering, construction management, program management and related services for the continued upgrade, modernization and expansion of the Arlington County Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP) in South Arlington, Virginia.

The contract has a total budget of $23 million with first-year funding of $11.4 million and a total contract term of up to three years.

Under the contract, Earth Tech will provide resident engineering services, quality assurance inspection, contract administration, project controls, financial management, contractor submittal review and management, design contract management, design submittal review and various special projects, as needed. These efforts will continue the work done to modernize the aging facility, increase its capacity from 30 million gallons per day to 40 million gallons per day, and meet nutrient standards for discharges to the Chesapeake Bay.

"This follow-on contract is a direct result of the excellent work Earth Tech has provided Arlington County over the past six years," said Brian Burgher, PE, Senior Vice President for Earth Tech's regional operations. "It demonstrates the County's recognition of our efforts and enables us to keep the many challenging and complex project activities moving forward to a successful completion in 2011."

Earth Tech has served as program manager for this $568 million project since 2002. During this time, the company updated the Master Plan, managed two design contracts and managed several construction contracts.

The Arlington County Water Pollution Control Plant, originally built in the 1930s, treats 30 million gallons of wastewater each day from Arlington County residences and businesses. The facility is being expanded to meet new state and federal regulations, continue safely processing wastewater for a growing population and discharge cleaner water to the local environment, including the Four Mile Run, the Potomac River and the Chesapeake Bay.

Earth Tech Inc. is a global provider of a full suite of engineering, construction and operations services to the international water/wastewater, environmental, transportation, and facilities markets.
