• Alberici Constructors, WWPS to pursue water, wastewater projects
ST. LOUIS, MO, April 15, 2008 -- Alberici Constructors is pleased to announce the acquisition of WWPS, an Atlanta-based construction firm specializing in water and wastewater facilities. The newly combined firms will continue to focus and expand on the construction of water and wastewater facilities in the greater Atlanta metropolitan area and the Southeastern United States.
WWPS was founded by Keith and Lisa Willis in 1997 and has worked primarily in the greater Atlanta area completing projects at many of the city's water/wastewater treatment facilities, in addition to several municipal projects. Keith Willis will join Alberici as the General Manager of the Southeast region, as well as continuing his lead role for WWPS. Lisa Willis will continue as President and majority owner of Willis Professional Services (WPS), a certified woman-owned business enterprise (WBE). "The acquisition of WWPS is consistent with our long-term strategy to grow our heavy public infrastructure business in the Southeast," said Greg Kozicz, CEO and President of Alberici.
WWPS has been recognized for its outstanding partnering achievements, and was recently presented a "2008 Aon Build America Merit Award" in the "Environmental-New" category for the Weracoba Creek Water Quality Improvement Project in Columbus, Georgia. "The Aon Build America Awards recognize the nation's premier projects, large and small, from across the country," said AGC CEO Stephen E. Sandherr.
Alberici and WWPS recently worked together and successfully completed the City of Atlanta's $37 million Custer Avenue Combined Sewer Overflow Storage Facility. Currently, Alberici is working on the completion of the $236 million Platte West Water Treatment Plant in Omaha, Nebraska and the construction of $238 million Arlington County Water Pollution Control Plant in Virginia. "I am very pleased this acquisition will bring new markets and skill sets into our water/wastewater business," said Dave Kress, Alberici's Vice President of Water/Wastewater.
Founded 90 years ago, Alberici provides general contracting, construction management, specialty contracting and design-build services across various markets including automotive, energy, food and beverage, general building, healthcare, industrial, manufacturing and water/waste water.
