• Donation is earmarked for ASFPM Foundation's Nick Winter Scholarship Fund
TAMPA, FL, May 22, 2008 -- PBS&J, a national engineering and construction services consulting firm, recently presented a $3,000 check to the Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) and the ASFPM Foundation. The donation, made through The PBSJ Foundation Inc., was presented at ASFPM's annual conference in Reno, Nevada, and will be designated for the Nick Winter Scholarship Fund.
The ASFPM Foundation will grant a scholarship for the 2008-2009 academic year to a full-time college junior or senior currently enrolled in an undergraduate program related to floodplain/stormwater management, or a student enrolled in a graduate program in a field related to floodplain/stormwater management.
The PBSJ Foundation Inc. was established as a 501(c)(3) providing The PBSJ Corporation and its subsidiaries, PBS&J and PBS&J Constructors Inc., with the tools and the ability to further promote and support education, public charities focused on providing support for individuals, and communities.
The Association of State Floodplain Managers is an organization of professionals involved in floodplain management, flood hazard mitigation, the National Flood Insurance Program, and flood preparedness, warning and recovery. ASFPM has become a respected voice in floodplain management practice and policy in the United States because it represents the flood hazard specialists of local, state and federal government, the research community, the insurance industry, and the fields of engineering, hydrologic forecasting, emergency response, water resources, and others.
The mission of the ASFPM Foundation is to promote public policy through select strategic initiatives and serve as an incubator for long-term policy development that promotes wise floodplain management.
