• Multi-million dollar contract now includes operational responsibility for public works and utility functions in south central Florida community.
FORT WASHINGTON, PA, April 14, 2006 -- The Sun 'n Lake of Sebring Improvement District in Sebring, Fla. has expanded its support services contract with Severn Trent Management Services to include operational responsibility for the public works and utility functions of the district, the Severn Trent Services unit announced yesterday. The original agreement, signed in April 2005, called for Severn Trent to provide financial, administrative, and customer service functions for the south central Florida improvement district. The value of the contract is estimated at $2.0 million for the first year of the five-year agreement.
Created by Highlands County in 1974, the Sun 'n Lake of Sebring Improvement District is a special improvement district, an independent special-purpose unit of government established to finance basic services within the development, including infrastructure construction, services and maintenance. Services provided by the district include stormwater, potable water, sanitary sewer, roads, fire and security.
With approximately 6,000 residents, Sun 'n Lake comprises 12 square miles and includes residential communities, schools, commercial establishments, churches, a hospital and a golf and country club. Once considered a retirement community, the area is experiencing dynamic growth and is now home to both older adults and younger families.
