CENTREVILLE, VA, Nov. 12, 2007 -- CH2M Hill, a global full-service engineering, construction and operations firm, announced today that it has been awarded a professional services task order contract from the Upper Occoquan Sewage Authority (UOSA), which will allow the firm to continue its 36-year commitment to serving the Authority.

This is the third professional service contract awarded to CH2M Hill to carry out capital improvement programs (CIP) since 1971, when CH2M Hill was contracted to conceive and design the Authority's original 15 million gallon per day (mgd) advanced water reclamation facility, five pumping stations and 150,000 feet of interceptor sewers. This facility is still considered an industry benchmark for indirect reuse of non-potable water. During the 1980s, CH2M Hill provided comprehensive engineering services for the expansion of the plant to 27 mgd and then to 54 mgd in the late 1990s, while ensuring consistent adherence to the most stringent wastewater treatment requirements of any permitted plant in the United States. In addition to numerous related enhancements during this comprehensive program, CH2M Hill also designed capacity upgrades to the Authority's two main pump stations, which deliver flows to the plant from its four contributing jurisdictions, City of Manassas, City of Manassas Park, Fairfax County and Prince William County.

"CH2M Hill's relationship with UOSA is built on mutual respect and a common understanding of the goals UOSA works to achieve," said George Gunn, Long term Client Service Manager and Program Director. "UOSA provided CH2M Hill the opportunity to design the first major advanced water treatment plant on the east coast and helped CH2M Hill establish our east coast presence and the success we as a firm enjoy today. It has been a pleasure to work with UOSA over the past three decades providing cutting-edge technologies for wastewater treatment. With this contract we look forward to continuing our partnership for the next decade."

The scope of work covered by the new contract will include:
• Developing and implementing of a Virginia Department of Environmental Quality mandated plant total nitrogen and phosphorous waste load allocation compliance program.
• Developing and implementing of a renewal and replacement program for UOSA's aging water reclamation plant facilities.
• Developing and implementing of hydraulic improvements at the existing plant.
• Future expansion of the plant's treatment capacity (which has yet to be defined).
• Consulting services associated with alternative project delivery options such as construction management at risk for plant projects included under UOSA's current CIP.
• Evaluating, designing and providing services during construction associated with deferred Project 54 facilities.

With headquarters in Denver, CO, employee-owned CH2M Hill (www.ch2m.com) is a global leader in engineering, construction and operations for public and private clients. With more than $5 billion in revenue, it's an industry-leading program management, construction management and design firm, as ranked by Engineering News-Record (2007).
