ST. LOUIS, MO, June 12, 2007 -- URS Corporation has been selected by the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD) to perform preliminary design evaluations for the Western Mill Creek Combined Sewer System in an area that covers approximately 1,600 acres in the City of St. Louis.

The majority of the current sewer system was designed more than 100 years ago. The URS team will be responsible for evaluating the physical condition of major tunnels that transport stormwater and wastewater in the city via the combined sewer system. Many miles of smaller sewers throughout the entire watershed will also be evaluated.

Based on the findings from the investigations, URS will identify problem areas considering both short- and long-term cost effective solutions with recommendations made to MSD. The project is expected to be completed in two years.
