The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality awarded two DWSRF loans to Grank Forks and two CWSRF loans to Wilton to upgrade water infrastructure across those communities.
The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality (NDDEQ) awarded four loans for water and sanitary sewer projects to two communities through the State Revolving Fund Programs in June.
The total funding announced for the projects is $5,160,000. The loans came through the state’s Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) and Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) programs.
Grand Forks received a $375,000 DWSRF loan to replace residential lead service lines removing a potential source of lead in drinking water. They also received a $1,778,000 DWSRF loan towards a project to provide safe drinking water to an area north of the city scheduled for annexation that is currently served by undersized lines.
Wilton received a $1,319,000 CWSRF loan and a $1,688,000 DWSRF loan towards a project that will replace the water and sanitary sewer mains in the community. This project will reduce repairs and improve system reliability.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency provides part of the SRF Programs funding, which offers below-market interest rate loans to political subdivisions for financing projects authorized under the Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act. SRF programs operate nationwide to provide funding to maintain and improve the infrastructure that protects our vital water resources.
