The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality loaned $6.3 million to four drinking water projects through its Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Program.
North Dakota has awarded $6.3 million in loans to four drinking water improvement projects across the state between August and October.
The state’s Department of Environmental Quality (NDDEQ) awarded the loans through the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) Program.
The projects receiving financial assistance are as follows:
Dakota Rural Water District received a $1,000,000 loan toward a project which will expand the south water treatment plant and provide the City of Hannaford with drinking water from a rural water system.
Dickinson received a $2,8000,000 Drinking Water State Revolving Fund loan to replace water mains and residential lead service lines, removing a potential source of lead in drinking water.
Glen Ullin was awarded a $1,900,000 loan to replace several blocks of cast iron pipe and asbestos cement pipe water mains and to loop any dead end lines, allowing the city to deliver safe drinking water to residents.
Riverdale was awarded a $600,000 loan toward a project to replace gate valves, which will help the city properly operate the water system.
The DWSRF program offers below-market interest rate loans for financing project authorized under the Safe Drinking Water Act. Funded in part by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), DWSRF programs operate nationwide to provide funding to maintain and improve the infrastructure that protect water resources.
