WASHINGTON -- President-elect Joseph Biden will nominate Michael S. Regan, secretary of the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality, to lead the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, according to reports from the New York Times.
During his time with NCDEQ, Regan fought for a multibillion-dollar settlement over coal ash cleanup with Duke Energy, and established an environmental justice advisory board.
If confirmed, Regan, 44, would be the first Black man to run the EPA.
