The Water Environment Federation has announced the addition of a new technical session on water infrastructure security to the WEFTEC 2002 program. The session focus on providing the latest updates on activities of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry on emerging issues in environmental health.

The session will be comprised of presentations by three experts from the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry who have made major advances in the science and policy of associating diseases with environmental contamination.

Sven Rodenbeck will present "Public Health Investigation to Assess Potential Exposures to Airborne and Settled Dust in Lower Manhattan," which examines the design and evaluation techniques used for environmental sampling at the World Trade Center collapse; Peter Kowalski, a member of the Capitol Hill Tiger Team anthrax investigation, will present "The Environmental Health Response to the Anthrax Attacks: The Case of the Hart Senate Office Building;" and Juan Reyes will present "Dover Township Childhood Cancer Investigation: Advances in Environmental Engineering, Science and Public Health Policy."

The workshop will conclude with a 90-minute question and answer session with the experts. Moderated by Robert C. Williams, the workshop is scheduled for Oct. 2 in Room N228 of McCormick Place. For more information please visit www.weftec.org.
