SMYRNA, GA, April 8, 2005 -- Arch Chemicals' industrial and municipal water treatment business based in Smyrna, Ga., near Atlanta, is experiencing growth in its market niche under the leadership of Jacqueline D. Ford, North America industrial and municipal marketing manager.

"We're excited about the growth Arch is experiencing, and the opportunity to provide our customers with advanced technology products and quality services that meet their needs," says Ford, who is responsible for sales and marketing in the U.S. and Canada.

"My primary objective is to establish Arch as a key player in our targeted market segments," she explains. "We are committed to understanding our customers and their needs, which is critical to achieving this goal. "Consequently, I'm in the field on a regular basis talking with our customers about their businesses and their specific needs."

That commitment extends to adding staff to serve the growing needs of Arch's customers. Recently Donald Dierker was brought on board as an industrial and municipal sales representative based in Sandersville, Ga. His primary responsibilities are to expand the dealer network and to develop new sales opportunities in the municipal and industrial markets while increasing sales with existing accounts.

Prior to Arch's acquisition of Avecia's Pool & Spa business in April 2004, Ford was with Avecia for 13 years in a variety of positions with increasing responsibility, serving most recently as international sales manager. The experience gained through these positions and her work in laboratory positions with Hercules Chemical Co. complement her role today. She earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Morgan State University in Baltimore, Md., and an MBA in marketing from Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, Del.

Dierker's background includes extensive experience in biocides, polymers, water/wastewater treatment and paper sales. Previously, he worked as an account manager for Calgon and as a senior account manager for Ondeo Nalco. This experience, coupled with his bachelor's degree in soil chemistry, crop protection and agronomy from the University of Illinois, provides him with a good background for his role at Arch.

A business within the company's Treatment Products segment, Arch's Industrial and Municipal water treatment business, based in Smyrna, offers a range of products and feeders designed to sanitize water in industrial and municipal applications throughout the world. Major brands sold globally are Constant Chlor®, CCH®, DryTec®, Pulsar®, HTH® and EASIFLO®.

Based in Norwalk, Conn., Arch Chemicals Inc. (www.archchemicals.com) is a global specialty chemicals company with more than $1 billion in annual sales. Arch and its subsidiaries have leadership positions in Treatment and Performance Products, and they serve leading customers in these markets with forward-looking solutions to meet their chemical needs. Together with its subsidiaries, Arch has approximately 2,8000 employees and manufacturing and customer-support facilities in North and South America, Europe, Asia and Africa.
