LOS ANGELES, CA, Feb. 20, 2015 -- At its 2015 Winter Conference held in Charleston, S.C., earlier this month, the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) honored the Los Angeles (LA) Sanitation with two National Environmental Achievement Awards.

NACWA's National Environmental Achievement Awards program recognizes both individuals and member agencies that have made outstanding contributions to environmental protection and wastewater management.

The LA Environmental Learning Center at Hyperion received the 2015 Public Information and Education Award, while the Ed P. Reyes River Greenway won the 2015 Operations and Environmental Performance Award.

LA's Environmental Learning Center is an engaging and interactive learning environment designed to educate children and adults about sustainable water and solid resources management in the city. Further, the Ed P. Reyes River Greenway is a stormwater treatment facility that also provides free and open green space to the Lincoln Heights community.

This is the second year in a row that LA Sanitation has been honored with NACWA's Operations and Environmental Performance Award, winning in 2014 for the Echo Park Lake Multi-Benefit Stormwater BMP (best management practices) Project.
