MIOX Corporation of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and New Scientific Prevention of Japan signed a 10-year exclusive distribution and manufacturing license agreement for MIOX on-site disinfection systems in Japan.

USA: MIOX Corporation of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and New Scientific Prevention of Japan signed a 10-year exclusive distribution and manufacturing license agreement for MIOX on-site disinfection systems in Japan. Currently, more than 80 MIOX equipment are installed in Japan, disinfecting and protecting potable water systems and swimming pools.

The MIOX process requires only salt, water and power to operate, so it is rapidly gaining acceptance as a suitable replacement for hazardous chlorine gas or bulk bleach.

USA: Visteon Deutschland GmbH, a subsidiary of the US Visteon Corporation, selected Veolia Environnement as partner to operate the environmental services at its Düren production site. Globalis GmbH, a joint subsidiary of these three divisions will operate the 10-year contract, which represents cumulative revenue of some g60 million for Veolia Environnement.

The scope covers the management of energy and industrial fluids, the entire water cycle, the management of industrial wastes and scrap metal, industrial cleaning, and the management of chemical products at the production site, in addition to the management and maintenance of administrative and industrial buildings.

USA: USFilter Operating Services, Inc. changed its name to Veolia Water North America Operating Services, Inc., adopting the name of its parent company. The name change results from a September 2003 announcement by USFilter's parent company Veolia Environment, of its intention to sell select USFilter equipment and consumer businesses and to focus on its core outsourcing services business.

Mike Stark, president and chief executive officer of Veolia Water North America commented: "With the transition to the Veolia Water name, our business is focused at the very core of Veolia Water's US$ 13-billion global business - the provision of long-term design-build and operate water and wastewater services through public-private partnerships and industrial outsourcing agreements."

Venezuela: Two of Venezuela's largest utilities selected Haestad Methods' WaterCAD, WaterGEMS and SewerCAD water resources modelling software to help meet and comply with regulatory requirements.

Under the Water and Sewerage Decentralisation Project, established by the Venezuelan government in 1989, municipalities are urgently working to improve the efficiency and quality of potable water and sanitation collection systems. Hidrolara, Barquisimeto and Hidrocapital, Caracas are currently using Haestad software to meet these goals, including Hidrofalcon C.A., Estado Falcon; and Hidrocentro C.A., Guacara Estado de Carabobo.

WaterCAD will replace the modelling system at Hidrolara and WaterGEMS at Hidrocapital, providing each utility with a complete GIS-based solution for modelling and managing their drinking water infrastructure. Hidrocapital will use Water-GEMS to improve the performance of its pumping systems and interconnect its networks. This utility provides water and wastewater services to more than five million people in the capital city of Caracas.
