COSTA MESA, Calif., Aug. 29, 2002 -- The Keith Companies Inc., an engineering and consulting services firm, announced recently that its Tettemer & Associates division has been awarded the Outstanding Civil Engineering Project of the Year award by the San Bernardino-Riverside Counties branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
The award was granted in association with the design, analysis, and construction support to facilitate construction of the facilities for the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD) on the Cajalco Creek Dam and Detention Basin Project. Representatives of the company will accept the award on August 28, 2002.

For the award-winning Cajalco Creek Project, Tettemer provided a wide range of engineering, design and support services. The finished project included a 42-foot high earthen dam, reinforced concrete outlet tower, and 150-foot wide spillway structure designed to detain up to 2000 acre-feet of water during peak storm periods. The project included the realignment of approximately one mile of the Cajalco Expressway in the County of Riverside, California. The in-place facility is located upstream of MWD's Lake Mathews Reservoir, and provides MWD the ability to monitor and improve the quality of water entering Lake Mathews from the upstream watershed.
