Nov. 4, 2002 -- The National Academies' Board on Environmental Studies and Toxicology has established a new Web site for the Committee on Emerging Issues and Data on Environmental Contaminants.
The new site features more information about the committee's upcoming public meetings, a periodic newsletter and links to organizations that are involved in related issues.
The committee scheduled a symposium for Monday, Nov. 4 to discuss emerging issues in toxicogenomics. Participate by listening to a live audio webcast (requires free RealPlayer) and submitting questions using an e-mail form, both accessible on the National-Academies.org home page beginning at 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. EST.

The National Research Council was organized by the National Academy of Sciences in 1916 to associate the broad community of science and technology with the Academy's purposes of furthering knowledge and advising the federal government.
Functioning in accordance with general policies determined by the Academy, the Council has become the principal operating agency of both the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Engineering in providing services to the government, the public, and the scientific and engineering communities.
