CLEVELAND, Dec. 18, 2002 -- On Wednesday, January 29, 2003, the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District will host a seminar for member communities that will ultimately help them meet US EPA storm water regulations.
These national regulations, formally referred to as Storm Water Phase II Regulations, will help reduce water quality problems caused by storm water discharges. The Ohio EPA will administer the regulations by issuing permits to each member community. To meet the permit, however, the Ohio EPA is requiring each District member community to submit a storm water management plan by March 10, 2003.
At the seminar in January, which the Board of Trustees fully approved and endorsed at the December 12th Board meeting, the District will essentially guide member communities through the process of creating a storm water management plan. Currently, their approach entails creating a brief summary of Permit mandates, providing a suggested outline for the required storm water management plan, and presenting a summary of available information and assistance.
The seminar will take place at the Environmental and Maintenance Services Center in Cuyahoga Heights on January 29, 2003 from 9am to 12pm. For further information, please contact District Engineers Jeffrey Duke or Frank Greenland at (216) 881-6600.
