Dec. 28, 2000
A combination of heavy rainfall in excess of four inches and a mechanical failure caused the Trinity River Authority's Denton Creek Regional Wastewater System to unintentionally release an estimated 220,000 gallons of domestic wastewater into Cade Branch Creek.
ARLINGTON, Texas, Dec. 27, 2000 (PRNewswire) — A combination of heavy rainfall in excess of four inches and a mechanical failure caused the Trinity River Authority's Denton Creek Regional Wastewater System to unintentionally release an estimated 220,000 gallons of domestic wastewater into Cade Branch Creek.
The unintentional release occurred on December 26, 2000 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. The release came from a manhole located 30 yards west of Cade Branch Creek.
Emergency repairs were completed by 2 p.m. that allowed for additional process treatment.
While such releases are undesirable the wastewater was highly diluted by storm waters that had reduced the TRA wastewater pipeline capacity and by floodwaters in Cade Branch Creek. The highly diluted wastewater is not expected to have any significant impact on the receiving stream.
