Water Environment Federation releases new school curriculum

The Water Environment Federation (WEF) announces the release of a new school-to-career curriculum, "Make Waves: Career Paths in the Water Environment".


ALEXANDRIA, VA, June 27, 2003 - The Water Environment Federation (WEF) announces the release of a new school-to-career curriculum, "Make Waves: Career Paths in the Water Environment".

Adapted from Water Works!, a curriculum developed by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and the San Diego County Water Authority, Make Waves provides 12 hands-on activities designed to entice secondary students to consider careers in the water environment.

A wide variety of water environment careers from engineering to administration offers opportunities for young people to choose a career path that makes a difference in the global water environment.

Offering supplemental education, guidance counselors and secondary educators will benefit from the curriculum's classroom application; while, water quality professionals will find it to be an invaluable resource for plant tours and school presentations. A companion piece, the Make Waves Brochure/Poster, is also available to enhance the curriculum.

The 11" x 17" foldout poster chronicles the future needs and growth of the water quality field and emphasizes the impact that water professionals have on public health and environmental protection.
