PORTLAND, Maine, June 20, 2003 -- Four treatment facilities recently renewed their operations contracts, valued at more than $4 million, with Woodard & Curran.
The environmental operations and engineering firm, which contract operates nearly 50 water and wastewater treatment facilities nationwide, was awarded a contract with Interface Fabrics Group in Elkin, North Carolina, to operate its industrial wastewater treatment facility. The firm was also awarded contracts for the Lone Pine groundwater remediation facility in Freehold, New Jersey; Manchester-by-the-Sea Water Treatment Facility in Massachusetts; and a wastewater treatment facility for Nestle USA in Springville, Utah.
The Lone Pine Landfill Superfund site in Freehold, New Jersey extended its contract for another three years after its original 5-year contract with Woodard & Curran. The contract, valued at almost $2 million over the next three years, includes comprehensive operations and maintenance of the site's 216,000-GPD groundwater remediation treatment facility. The facility treats contaminated groundwater from a 57-acre landfill that once accepted 17,000 drums of chemical waste, municipal refuse, large volumes of septage, and millions of gallons of bulk liquid chemical waste.
"Renewal of these contracts is a testament to our commitment to exceptional client service and customer care." said Doug McKeown, senior vice president of the operations and management team at Woodard & Curran.
Other contracts awarded include comprehensive contract operations of the 1-MGD pretreatment facility for Nestle USA in Springville, Utah. The contract, valued at $600,000 a year, is a renewal of Woodard & Curran's previous one-year contract. During its first year as contract operator, Woodard & Curran saved Nestle USA about $20,000 by upgrading and optimizing use of existing equipment.
Also on the list is the Manchester-by-the-Sea drinking water treatment facility in Massachusetts. The contract, renewed at about $1.5 million over 5 years, includes operations and maintenance of the 3-MGD surface drinking water treatment facility, which utilizes upflow adsorption treatment.
Interface Fabrics Group South in Elkin, South Carloina, awarded a new contract to Woodard & Curran to operate and maintain its 4-MGD textile manufacturing wastewater treatment facility.
