Feb. 25, 2003 -- The 13th Laureate of the Stockholm Water Prize will be announced in Stockholm on March 21, 2003, at 11.00, Central European Time.
The $150,000 Stockholm Water Prize, an international award for outstanding achievements on behalf of the world's water, is presented by the Stockholm Water Foundation.
The Prize is awarded to an individual, institution, organization or company and recognizes outstanding research, action or education that increases knowledge of water as a resource and protects its usability for all life.
The Stockholm Industry Water Award has been established by the the Stockholm Water Foundation in collaboration with the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development and to stimulate business sector contribution to sustainable development in the water sector, and to minimize water consumption and pollution load on the environment.
The honorary award focuses on industry or other business companies and will recognize innovative corporate development of water and wastewater process technologies, contributions to environmental improvement through improved performance in production processes, new products and other significant contributions by businesses and industries to helping improve the world water situation. The award is presented each August during the World Water Week in Stockholm.
