MORGANTOWN, WV, August 14, 2001 — A poster titled "National Estuary Program: Bringing Our Estuaries New Life" is available from the National Small Flows Clearinghouse (NSFC).
Developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Office of Wetlands, Oceans, and Watersheds, this foldout poster highlights 21 local NEPs [National Estuary Programs]. In 1987, the NEP was established to protect and restore the health of estuaries while supporting economic and recreational activities.
Local NEPs developed partnerships between government agencies that oversee estuarine resources and the people who depend on the estuaries for their livelihood and quality of life. These groups plan and implement programs according to the needs of their areas. Each NEP demonstrates practical and innovative ways to revitalize and protect estuaries.
This poster includes contacts for each local NEP. This two-page foldout could serve as a resource for local and state officials and the general public. The poster is free, but shipping charges still apply.

Funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the NSFC helps small communities find affordable sewage treatment options to protect public health and the environment. Located at West Virginia University, the NSFC is a nonprofit organization established in 1979 under an amendment to the 1977 Clean Water Act.
