Vivendi Water, a subsidiary of Vivendi Environnement, announced that it has sold its Johnson Screens business to Weatherford International, Inc.

Paris, Oct. 29, 2001--Vivendi Water, a subsidiary of Vivendi Environnement, announced that it has sold its Johnson Screens business to Weatherford International, Inc.

Johnson Screens is part of the Filtration and Separations Group of Vivendi Water's USFilter subsidiary. Based in New Brighton, MN, Johnson Screens is a global provider of close-tolerance, high strength screen systems used for fluids/solids separation in industrial and municipal applications.

The sale furthers Vivendi Environnement's announced strategy to reduce debt, divest noncore assets, and focus on its core environmental businesses.

Vivendi Water, a subsidiary of Vivendi Environnement, is the leading global provider of water and wastewater services for municipal authorities, industrial companies and consumers. The company provides the entire range of outsourcing and design-build services, as well as equipment and systems.

With operations in more than 100 countries, Vivendi Water serves over 110 million consumers and 40,000 industrial customers worldwide. It has revenues of 12.9 billion euros for 2000, and 69,000 employees.
