L.A. Zoo Commission to commend Bureau of Sanitation for zoo stormwater runoff study

The City of Los Angeles, Department of Public Works, Bureau of Sanitation will receive a commendation when it presents the Los Angeles Zoo Best Management Practices Study to the Los Angeles Zoo Commission.
LOS ANGELES, Calif., May 11, 2001 -- The City of Los Angeles, Department of Public Works, Bureau of Sanitation will receive a commendation when it presents the Los Angeles Zoo Best Management Practices Study to the Los Angeles Zoo Commission. The presentation will take place May 15 at the Los Angeles Zoo.
The report identifies potential Best Management Practices (BMPs) to reduce the quantity and improve the quality of stormwater runoff from the Zoo. The commission will present an appreciation award to the Bureau of Sanitation for partnering with the Zoo to demonstrate conservation through stormwater management and environmental sustainability.
"We are honored to present the executive summary of the study and introduce the parking lot project, A California Exhibit on Environmental Sustainability, to the Zoo Commission," said Judith A. Wilson, Director of the Bureau of Sanitation. "We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Zoo Department to construct and demonstrate this innovative stormwater treatment practice."
