WASHINGTON, DC, Mar. 24, 2011 -- As part of its commitment to transparency, EPA has released a web-based, interactive mapping tool that helps the public track and compare water quality trends over the past two years.
The tool features "state dashboards" that provide information Clean Water Act violations as well as enforcement actions.
Data for both large and small sources of water pollution are incorporated into the dashboards, along with the latest information from EPA's 2009 Annual Noncompliance Report. Using the tool, the public can examine and compare information on inspections, violations and enforcement actions, as well as the penalties levied.
