IRVINE, CA, Apr. 12, 2011 -- Medical device maker Pro-Dex has agreed to a settlement with Orange County Water District in the District's lawsuit against Sabic Innovative Plastics.
The litigation, filed in June 2008, concerns soil and water contamination in a three-mile diameter area, the South Basin, covering parts of Santa Ana and Irvine, California. More than 30 defendants are associated with the case.
Under the agreement, Pro-Dex will be dismissed, with prejudice, from the lawsuit and will pay the District $250,000.
Pro-Dex CEO Mark Murphy said, "I am pleased that, after reviewing all the data, OCWD came to the conclusion that the risk of groundwater contamination from Pro-Dex's site was minimal, and that it made sense to enter into what we consider a de minimis settlement agreement."
