STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Jan. 31, 2008 -- Next week, the consulting engineering company SWECO is sending a team of environmental experts to state of Tamil Nadu in southern India to identify future environmental projects in collaboration with the charitable trust Hand in Hand.
"I look forward to cooperating with Hand in Hand, which is already managing projects in the country and has a good knowledge of local conditions and entrepreneurship. Our contribution will be to provide technical expertise related to viable initiatives in the environmental area," says Magnus Montelius at SWECO.
SWECO and Hand in Hand will draft a proposal outlining possible future environmental projects in Tamil Nadu, targeting areas such as improved waste management and upgrading of water and wastewater systems. Another conceivable focus is on development small-scale biogas plants.
The goal is to find projects with the potential to achieve the most positive impact. To succeed, it will be necessary to study both the technical needs and the will to carry out projects in different parts of the region.
Hand in Hand is a Public Charitable Trust whose primary objective is to support development and aid projects in the southern Indian province of Tamil Nadu.
SWECO is the Nordic region's leading provider of consulting services with combined expertise in engineering, environmental technology and architecture.
