WASHINGTON, DC, Sept. 15, 2008 -- Imagine a world where water is viewed, managed, and valued as one resource -- a world where the silo thinking that has kept clean water, drinking water, stormwater, and water reuse interests segregated erodes away. What flows out is a movement toward meeting future challenges on a watershed basis, with a focus on sustainability and green cities. Changing the water paradigm -- this is the vision of the Clean Water America Alliance.

The Clean Water America Alliance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working to explore the complex issue of water sustainability and plan for the future by improving public awareness that advances holistic, watershed-based approaches to water quality and quantity challenges. A broad cross-section of interests have come together through the Alliance to begin an important dialogue on the future with a focus on exploring and analyzing issues of critical importance to the nation's ability to provide clean and safe waters to future generations, offering information and education to citizens and policy-makers on key issues, and recognizing organizations and individuals for innovation and outstanding achievements in the water quality and quantity arena.
The Alliance's diverse board of directors (see listing below) offers a wide array of perspectives and includes leaders from the private sector (including engineering, manufacturing, legal and corporate executives), municipal utilities, state agencies, the environmental and conservation communities and academia -- as well as three former assistant administrators for water at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Each has accepted the call to serve not based on current or past organizational affiliations, but because of their strong desire to identify the best possible way to meet future challenges.
The distinguished CWAA Board of Directors has identified several key initiatives to move the organization forward in the coming year.
