•Work to include construction management, modeling and environmental engineering services
LONG BEACH, CA, April 8, 2008 -- Earth Tech Inc., a global provider of consulting, engineering and construction services, has been awarded three general engineering and professional services (GEPS) contracts for the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD).
The three contracts include Construction Management services, Modeling services and Environmental Engineering, Planning and Permitting services. Each contract has a three-year duration, with two, one-year renewal options.
Much of Earth Tech's work will be done to support ongoing drought management issues as well as the Everglades Restoration project currently underway in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Additional project work will be performed to support the Kissimmee River Restoration effort in conjunction with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, as well as local and state agencies including the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
"These contracts will allow us to continue helping the SFWMD complete critical portions of several major environmental restoration projects, including the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration and the Kissimmee River Restoration projects," said Agustin Maristany, Vice President and Senior Section Manager of Earth Tech operations in Miami, Florida. "Our extensive water resources experience will be an important asset in restoring these vital Florida natural resources."
Through these contracts, Earth Tech anticipates using many innovative technologies and computer modeling programs to make the restoration efforts of Florida's impacted natural areas more efficient. These resources will include the application of specialized data management tools using Geographic Information Systems, as well as the application of integrated surface and groundwater modeling software to evaluate complex alternatives to return the ecosystem to a more natural hydrology.
In addition to these latest contracts, Earth Tech has worked with SFWMD under two other contracts for the last three years. Under the current modeling contract, Earth Tech has developed an integrated surface-groundwater model of the Kissimmee River Basin, one of the two largest watersheds discharging into Lake Okeechobee. In addition, under an existing full services engineering contract, Earth Tech has been providing planning, analysis, design and permitting services for key elements of the Everglades Restoration Program. This contract was recently extended to the year 2011.
Earth Tech Inc. is a global provider of a full suite of engineering, construction and operations services to the international water/wastewater, environmental, transportation, and facilities markets.
