WASHINGTON, DC, April 24, 2008 -- U.S. EPA Administrator Stephen Johnson was presented the inaugural "Environmental Stewardship Award" by the Water and Wastewater Equipment Manufacturers Association (WWEMA) on April 16 at the Association's 100th Anniversary Gala Dinner held in conjunction with WWEMA's 35th Washington Forum in Washington, D.C.
In presenting the award, WWEMA Chairman Tom Mills of Severn Trent Services (Ft. Washington, Pa.) remarked, "Administrator Johnson has been a steward of the environment for many years and a friend to the water and wastewater industry. His exemplary leadership in fostering innovation and sustainable water infrastructure made him an excellent choice for recipient of WWEMA's first Environmental Stewardship Award."
The event was attended by government officials, association leaders, equipment manufacturers and manufacturer representatives who joined in celebrating the Association's 100 years of service to the industry.
Since 1908, WWEMA has informed, educated and provided leadership on the issues that shape the future of the water and wastewater industry.
