CHERRY HILL, NJ, Aug. 24, 2009 -- Innovative programs that address water source or watershed protection needs may be eligible for up to $5,000 through New Jersey American Water's 2009 Environmental Grant Program.
Organizations engaging in activities that improve a community's water supply or improve, restore or protect watersheds will be considered for fund. Such projects may include wildlife habitat improvement, stormwater management, wellhead protection initiatives, watershed cleanups, or reforestation efforts.
To be eligible, organizations must:
-- Be located within New Jersey American Water's service area
-- Complete the project between September 15 and December 15, 2009
-- Establish a new or innovative program or an significant expansion to an existing program
-- Be a partnership between two or more organizations
-- Provide evidence of sustainability
Applications must be received by September 1 and eligible candidates will be notified on September 15. Recipients of the grant will be announced later this year after applicants submit a written review on the results and impact of their project.
Grant recipients will be selected based on various criteria such as project goals, impact, innovation, design, collaboration, sustainability, and community engagement among other requirements.
