Water supply lawsuit hearing set for January
BILLINGS, MT, Nov. 9, 2010 -- Montana's claim that Wyoming farmers are taking too much of the region's water supply will be heard by the U.S. Supreme Court on January 10.
Montana sued Wyoming in 2007, alleging the violation of a 1950 deal to share the water of the Yellowstone River and its tributaries.
The verdict could be very important for farmers in the arid region as well as for energy companies that pump large volumes of water as part of the natural gas drilling process.
