BP oil spill: Tar balls found on Keys shoreline not linked to Deepwater Horizon

May 19, 2010 -- Samples of the tar balls found at a number of Florida Keys locations have been analyzed by the Coast Guard Marine Safety Laboratory in Connecticut and found to be unrelated to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Analysis was unable to determine the exact source, however.

The samples were collected earlier this week on beaches at Florida's Fort Zachary Taylor State Park, Smathers Beach in Key West, Big Pine Key, and Loggerhead Key.
