CH2M HILL's Dr. Udai Singh elected EWRI president
DENVER, Sept. 24, 2007 -- The Environmental and Water Resources Institute (EWRI) has announced the results of this year's presidential election, naming CH2M HILL's Dr. Udai P. Singh as the winner. Beginning October 1, 2007, Singh will serve a four-year term on EWRI's Governing Board. An active member and leader, he will serve one year each as vice president, president elect, president, and past president of EWRI, in that order.
Singh has spent his entire 33-year professional career with CH2M HILL where he has held progressively senior positions as project and program manager, client service manager and vice president in the firm's environmental group. Based out of the San Francisco office, he serves as the program manager on a $300 million Superfund contract with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 9.
"Throughout his 30-year career with CH2M HILL, Udai has lent his expertise to help our clients solve water resource and environmental issues," said Gene Lupia, president of CH2M HILL's environmental services business group. "We are proud have him as a colleague and to support him as he embarks on this new leadership role to advance the engineering profession and sustainable practices for infrastructure development impacting air, land and water resources."
A founding member, Singh has been active in EWRI since 1999. He has served as the chair of American Society of Civil Engineers' (ASCE) Environmental Engineering Division, a member of EWRI's Governing Board and chair for the Institute Operations Executive Committee. He chaired EWRI's first international conference, "An International Perspective on Environmental and Water Resources," held in India in December 2006. In addition, he will serve as the General Conference Chair for the World Environmental and Water Resources Congress 2008 in Honolulu.
EWRI is a civil engineering specialty institute of the ASCE. The 25,000-member organization complements ASCE's traditional civil engineering base and is designed to attract new categories of members like allied water resources and environmental professionals.
