NORWALK, CT, Dec. 20, 2007 - EMCOR Group Inc., a Fortune 500® leader in mechanical and electrical construction, energy infrastructure and facilities services for a diverse range of businesses globally, announced one of its subsidiaries has been awarded a contract to provide mechanical construction services for a new 24 million gallon per day (MGD) water treatment plant in Gilbert, Arizona.

University Mechanical & Engineer Contractors (UMEC), an EMCOR subsidiary, will construct and install process equipment and piping installation for the raw water control, ballasted flocculation basins, filter gallery and filters, blower room, reservoir/pre-chlorination well, finished water pump station, recovered water basin, thickened sludge pump station, sludge drying beds, chemical building, and lox / ozone mechanical room for the water treatment plant. UMEC will also provide all chemical piping as well as heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, and ductwork. The plant, which will have an expansion capacity of 48 MGD, will utilize a ballasted flocculation with a standard filtration treatment process.

"This complex and sophisticated project is typical of the work that EMCOR is undertaking at key locations across the country as clean, fresh water becomes scarcer and more valuable," said Brad Thornton, President and CEO of UMEC. "Water resource challenges will become much more frequent and widespread as a result of factors such as changing rainfall patterns, aquifer depletion, and population growth. EMCOR is helping customers and communities meet this growing challenge with water distribution and wastewater treatment projects that help to optimize water quality, availability, and cost. EMCOR's presence in markets with growing populations means that our services can contribute significantly to the quality of life for residents."

A Fortune 500 company with over $5.0 billion in annual revenues, EMCOR Group Inc. is a global leader in mechanical and electrical construction, energy infrastructure, and facilities services.
