• EPA & Southern Nevada Water Authority officials to address national & regional water challenges

LAS VEGAS, May 2, 2007 -- Recent drought conditions along the Colorado River highlight the serious challenges that limited water resources present to Nevada and to the six other states that share the Colorado River as a water resource. Presented with the challenge of securing and sustaining adequate water supplies for present and future needs, Nevada is also burdened with being the driest state and the fastest growing state in the nation. Effectively balancing growth and water resources is a pressing priority for Nevada, and for many other areas of the Southwest. On Thursday, May 3, 2007, GE Water & Process Technologies' 14-city World Water Tour will kick off in Las Vegas -- addressing water challenges and bringing new technologies and solutions to create and sustain national and regional water supplies. Water scarcity and water reuse experts will join guest speakers Benjamin H. Grumbles, U.S. EPA Assistant Administrator for Water and Kay Brothers, Southern Nevada Water Authority's (SNWA) Deputy General Manager of Engineering and Operations, to address these critical water management issues and how advanced technologies can help increase water supplies, and create sustainable new supplies from previously unusable wastewater streams.
