GONZALES, TEXAS, JANAURY 31, 2017 -- Southwest Engineers, Inc., a full-service civil and environmental engineering consulting firm, today announced the City of Leon Valley, Texas has joined the customer roster. Southwest Engineers was hired to prepare construction documents and provide bidding assistance and design engineering services to update the city's water wells. In addition, Southwest Engineers will provide services including field investigations, geotechnical support, engineering analysis and design recommendations for well pumps and other mechanical equipment.
"After an extensive review of submittals from a Request for Qualifications for this project, the City chose Southwest Engineers, based on their qualifications, expertise in their field, and excellent references from other satisfied project managers," said Melinda Moritz, Director of Public Works, City of Leon Valley. "This project will ensure Leon Valley citizens have a superior water supply for the next 50 years."
The City of Leon Valley hired Southwest Engineers to manage the bidding and hiring of qualified drilling, piping, and electrical contractors for this $2 million project and to oversee the construction of two new public supply water wells, cap two existing wells, the installation of VFD panels for each wellsite, perform water system hydraulic modeling and construct a water supply interconnection.
"Our expertise in water projects made us a great fit to assist the city in designing a new Edwards Aquifer public supply well to deliver drinking water for more than 3500 households," said John Littlefield, owner and president of Southwest Engineers. "Our engineering and design services also will be vital as the city constructs a proposed water supply interconnection with the San Antonio Water System (SAWS) water main."
The city selected Southwest Engineers for their expertise in wells, specifically aquifer wells and their partnership with Kaveh Khorzad, a well-known and respected hydrologist and president and senior hydrogeologist of Wet Rock Groundwater Services, LLC.
