March 2, 2004 -- IRC recently renewed its web site with a fresh design and a more user-focused structure of the content. Our site aims to enable and promote the sharing of information and collaboration among partners and professionals in the water and sanitation sector.
You can find the new site at the well-known address: http://www.irc.nl.
The content of the site is organised around Products and Services, Themes, Projects and relevant information about IRC. It is aimed at serving information needs of policy makers, professionals and information specialists in the water and sanitation sector. Updates are added on a daily basis and new items are flagged on the homepage every week.
The new site provides more options to tell us what you think. You can join online forums and contribute to the collective memory of the sector. New functionality for visitors includes commenting on and rating of content and mailing items to a friend.
Shared architecture
This site is based on a new architecture that is available to selected partners to set up and maintain their own web site. Various partners have already expressed a keen interest to share information and use a copy of the underlying content management system. One partner is already renewing its web site based on this new platform. For more information on this please contact Viktor Markowski, or Jaap Pels.
Sharing knowledge
Sharing the same architecture enables us to better share and combine our collective knowledge as well. Over time, this collaborative effort aims to create "the" Internet portal on water, environmental sanitation and hygiene in the developing world.
