SAN DIEGO, Aug. 12, 2004 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- PURE Bioscience and Clean Control Corp. have launched a new disinfectant product in The Home Depot Supply, a division of The Home Depot Inc.

PURE's silver dihydrogen citrate based Axen30® hard surface disinfectant will be packaged by Clean Control Corporation and distributed under a private label to The Home Depot Supply. The Home Depot Supply disinfectant product will be marketed to more than half a million customers of The Home Depot Supply through monthly direct mail advertising, trade shows, field representatives, The Home Depot Supply website and the January 2005 product catalogue. Clean Control Corporation expects to begin distributing to The Home Depot Supply in the fourth quarter of this year.

The Home Depot Supply, formerly Maintenance Warehouse, is a leading supplier of maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) products to owners and managers of multifamily, hospitality, educational and commercial properties; healthcare providers; and government installations. The Home Depot Supply operates a network of more than 20 warehouse locations across the United States and Canada and employs more than 200 field account managers.

Michael L. Krall, president and CEO of PURE Bioscience stated, "Our objective for the Axen30 ready-to-use disinfectant product is to create strategic relationships with established distributors and leading companies in multiple market segments. Clean Control has an outstanding reputation for product innovation and marketing, and we are pleased with its aggressive strategy in introducing Axen30 to its existing customers like The Home Depot Supply. We believe Axen30 is a practical and progressive alternative to the current toxic and less powerful disinfecting product offerings in this key business-to-business distribution channel."

Stephen Davison, Clean Control's founder and president, added, "We are proud to add Axen30 as the eleventh product sold by Clean Control to The Home Depot Supply. The Home Depot Supply offers one-stop-shopping for commercial property and hospitality owners, including corporate and association owned apartment complexes, hotels and motels. These buyers should immediately recognize the benefit of Axen30's broad-spectrum efficacy and non-caustic formulation."

PURE's patented new molecule, silver dihydrogen citrate (SDC), is an electrolytically generated source of stabilized ionic silver that can serve as the basis for a broad range of products in diverse markets. SDC liquid is colorless, odorless, tasteless, non-caustic and formulates well with other compounds. SDC-based antimicrobial technology is distinguished from competitors in the marketplace because of its superior efficacy combined with reduced toxicity. Silver dihydrogen citrate was invented by Andrew B. Arata, Director of Research and Development for PURE's Bioscience Division.

Axen30, PURE's first commercialized SDC product, is a powerful hard surface disinfectant. The efficacy of Axen30 exceeds that of most leading commercial and consumer products while maintaining a lower toxicity rating. EPA approved claims for Axen30 include a 30 second kill time and a 24 hour residual kill on standard indicator bacteria, a 2 minute kill time on some resistant strains of bacteria including MRSA and VRE, 10 minute kill time on fungi, 30 second kill time on HIV Type I, and 10 minute kill time on other viruses. Recently, PURE received EPA approval to expand claims made for its Axen30 hard surface disinfectant to include use on hard surfaces in childcare facilities. The EPA previously approved Axen30 for disinfection of hard surfaces including those in restaurants, homes and medical facilities. The EPA's approval of Axen30 for use on sensitive children's use sites emphasizes the "least-toxic" characteristics of Axen30 while expanding its versatility in the professional and consumer disinfection markets.

In addition to EPA approved uses of SDC technology, PURE, in conjunction with Therapeutics, Incorporated, is pursuing the development and commercialization of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulated SDC-based healthcare products. Therapeutics, Incorporated has identified several potential Axenohl based women's health products as well as potential acne treatment products as the first groups of FDA regulated products using PURE's SDC antimicrobial technology for which it intends to pursue FDA approvals.
