NEW YORK, NY, Nov. 4, 2010 -- As a result of recent test results, New Yorkers are being advised to run their taps for 30 seconds before drinking water, cooking with it or using it to make baby formula. The tests showed elevated lead levels in some older buildings.
New York's Department of Environmental Protection said the water supply is virtually lead-free. The recently detected contaminations are being attributed to lead pipes and fixtures in some older buildings.
