DUBLIN, IRELAND, May 22, 2007 -- Engineering firm Earth Tech has teamed up with business experts at Sheffield Hallam University to create a unique development program to prepare 30 staff for leadership.

High flyers at the company will attend "The Earth Tech Academy", a two-year course of business and management training tailored by the university.

Tony White, managing director at Earth Tech, said: "The aim of this program is to equip our people with the skills and understanding to make them captains of industry.

"We recognize how important it is to reward and retain talented employees. We want to give them exciting opportunities and top quality training to ensure we get the best possible people to lead the company." The 30 staff, selected from all areas of the Earth Tech business, will each attend four one-week residential courses at the university. There, they will be taught coaching and mentoring techniques, change management, corporate social responsibility, marketing skills and financial decision-making.

Tim Davidson-Hague, head of continuing professional development at Sheffield Hallam University, said: "Too many organizations have no succession plan in place, leaving themselves vulnerable to changes in top management. Earth Tech is taking important steps to safeguard the future of the business by giving its staff clear and tangible routes to succeed and the opportunity to make a greater strategic contribution to the company."
