CALGARY, Alberta, Canada, April 12, 2005 -- Telvent, a global real-time information technology company, has been awarded the Advanced Software Application System (ASAS) contract by Compañía Logística de Hidrocarburos (CLH) of Spain.

Telvent will install its SimSuite Pipeline high fidelity leak detection and batch tracking system, as well as various off-line applications including a full-scope trainer, look-ahead and predictive models. The CLH project scope also includes power optimization, which will allow the customer to monitor and control energy consumption at its pump stations, thus minimizing costs.

CLH is essentially the single supplier of refined products throughout Spain, operating a complex network of 37 supply terminals, 25 mainline pumping stations, 150 automated line valves and over 3,400 kilometers of pipeline. Telvent's system will monitor and control product batches as they are distributed through the pipeline, increasing the efficiency of product dispatch, delivery and integrity to customers and storage facilities.

Replacing the existing Energy Solutions International (ESI) leak detection and batch tracking system, SimSuite Pipeline will operate with Telvent's previously-supplied OASyS SCADA system, creating an integrated data acquisition and advanced application system to improve not only the efficiency, but also the safety of CLH's pipeline operations. As Manuel Sánchez Ortega, Chairman of Telvent, explains, "SimSuite Pipeline's leak detection capabilities will help reduce the risk of potential negative impact to the environment by being able to quickly detect any loss in pressure, allowing operators to take corrective action".

To further enhance pipeline security and efficiency, SimSuite Pipeline's Operator Training will help prepare operators for their roles with a full simulation of the actual pipeline. "Telvent's integrated system will help ensure CLH continues to be one of the most technologically advanced hydrocarbon logistics companies in the industry," added Sánchez.

Telvent (www.telvent.com) specializes in high value-added solutions for four specific industrial sectors -- Energy, Traffic, Transport and Environment -- in Europe, North America, Latin America and China.
