Sutron Hydrological Services Division wins contracts with South Florida Water Management District

During the final quarter of 2002, Sutron Corporation received several contracts from the South Florida Water Management District.

Sterling, Va., January 15, 2003 -- During the final quarter of 2002, Sutron Corporation received several contracts from the South Florida Water Management District.

The contracts are for flow monitoring assistance, monitoring equipment installation and science and engineering support.

Flow Monitoring Assistance Sutron will provide support for the SFWMD to collect flow data at structures throughout the 16 county area under their jurisdiction. The total budget of this multi-vendor three-year contract is $480,000.

Monitoring Equipment Installation Sutron will provide on-going assistance to the SFWMD for installation and activation of monitoring sites required by regulatory programs and the CERP project. This three-year contract was awarded to five companies and has a total project budget of $6,644,955.

Science and Engineering Support Sutron will provide SFWMD with an array of technical support services including field data collection and engineering. Under the auspices of this contract Sutron staff engineers and technicians will work on site at various SFWMD facilities. This five-year multi-vendor contract has an initial four year budget of $22,809,095.

We continue to hire local engineering staff both to support these new contracts and in anticipation of future growth."

In December 2001 Steve Tarte, VP, opened the company's first Florida office to establish Sutron's Hydrological Services Division. Sutron's new offices in Florida emphasize collection of hydrometric data, hydrologic investigations, lake circulation studies, meteorologic data collection, stream discharge collection and the monitoring of surface water levels, groundwater levels, and water quality. Sutron is a supplier of real-time environmental remote monitoring and control systems for several Federal Agencies, including the US Geological Survey, the National Ocean Service, a division of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Army Corps of Engineers, and the National Weather Service.
